Holden Outerwear is a manufacturer of jackets and pants for use in skiing and snowboarding. Based in Venice Beach, CA, Holden was founded snowboard legend Mikey LeBlanc and designer Scott Zergebel.
Holden was launching in 2002 by LeBlanc and Zergebel under the wings of Earth Products, a subsidiary of K2 Sports and the larger Jarden Corporation. In 2007, Holden severed ties with Earth Products and became an independent company. At this time, LeBlanc and Zergebel moved the corporate office from southern California to Portland, Oregon and doubled the size of the company from 3 to 8 employees.
In 2007, Holden was distributing in 150 stores in North America and 15 countries worldwide. Since that time Holden has moved back to Venice Beach, CA.
Holden has also become widely known for its annual sales website and receives accolades for its use of video and interactive design. In 2010 Holden, with the help of Wilderness Design, won the Excellence Award for the Portland, OR based Rosie Awards.
Holden uses eco-friendly fabrics in technical jackets. In 2006, Holden won an award from the Worth Global Style Network for its development of a fabric made of hemp and recycled plastic bottles that is both waterproof and breathable. Holden also partners with Schoeller Technologies to use their patented eco-friendly C change fabrics. The fabric won the 2006 Frost & Sullivan Award for Product Innovation of the Year.
Timeless Quality Garments!
For 2016 they have once again designed a collection based on the ethos of Timeless Quality; enduring styles that last a lifetime, high attention to detail, tailored fits, excellence in fabrication, and their continued dedication to eco-friendlier technologies and manufacturing processes.
Moreover, their modern take on the Sherpa Fleece is designed to look great on and off the mountain. Wicking French terry performance fleece on the arms both increases mobility and offers quick-dry convenience, while the Sherpa Fleece body keeps you warm and moves moisture away from your body. Meant for daily use, their intent was to design these styles to be worn on their own or to be layered under your favorite technical jacket for added warmth and function.
Holden personifies the winter outdoor lifestyle. They have helping make tremendous strides in eco-friendlier outerwear production since the brand was created. The designs are timeless and the quality is superior to many other “outdoor” brands on the market. Holden products are the only thing I wear while riding.– Steve Fisher.
I remember being at a surf shop in Laguna back in college, and I saw a pair of skinny grey pants and a cream, double-breasted jacket with a fun belt. I bought them on the spot! At the time no brands had that kind of unique snow clothing for women that were fitted like that. I remember thinking how innovative Holden was then, and still is to this day.-Kelsey Bang.
